Tim Cheshire

I am 56 years old and a qualified accountant, FCCA, having qualified more years ago than I care to remember.
I have worked in a number of commercial companies operating in the financial information and media sectors in London and worked my way up through Financial Accountant to Financial Controller to Finance Director.
I left London 9 years ago and carried out 6 months consultancy work at P&O Ferries in Dover before joining Strode Park Foundation in June 2004 as Finance Director and Deputy Chief Exec in what was my first foray into the charity and care sector.
Strode Park is a registered charity and provides a wide range of care services to people with physical disabilities including the provision of domiciliary care through its Comcare agency. My role here, however, requires me to work both operationally and strategically across the entire organisation and I am one of a small dedicated management team which has overseen the expansion of the organisation, both naturally and organically.
The current economic climate is probably the most difficult that the care sector has had to face and with the cut backs and restructuring of services being implemented by KCC the challenges now facing the care sector are enormous. I believe that my experience in finance and the care sectors give me the skills to contribute significantly to KCCA and the important role it has to play representing the interests of its members.
