Andrew Saunders
On leaving school Andrew worked as a cadet nurse at Rochdale Infirmary and Birch Hill Hospital. In 1972 he became a State Registered Nurse and worked continually for the NHS for the next seventeen years, the last four years as a Nurse Tutor.
On leaving the NHS Andrew then worked for various medical companies as a Product Manager and Business Development Manager, until starting his own medical company “Saunders Medical.”
He has also been involved with developing and running Nursing and Residential Homes.
Currently Andrew is a Director in a family business, “Meritum Independent Living,” specialising in Domiciliary Care and also
involved as a partner in “Ashford Day care.”
He has been a Director with the KCCA for the last 8 years taking a special interest in medication, inspection issues and the setting up of a web site for KCCA. At the moment he is representing KCCA as part of the Stakeholder Steering Group for the “Implementation of the Registration of Social Care Workers” something he passionately believes will not only benefit the Domiciliary Care Sector but will help to give care workers the recognition they so richly deserve.
For this past two years Andrew has been working hard attending meetings to help with the implementation of Personalisation and Self Directed Support, establishing a special interest in Enablement Services.
